“Gamers Sandbox” at Lafayette Science Museum during ArtWalk

04-Mar-2015

A Gamers Sandbox premiered on Saturday, February 21st at the Lafayette Science Museum (LSM). The Sandbox has been developed with the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) and consists of a high-end gaming station running the top games produced by AIE students.

This is the first phase of the Gamers Sandbox and is part of February’s ArtWalk in downtown Lafayette. Once completed, the Gamers Sandbox will house six lightning-fast gaming stations and will be key attractions on LSM’s first and second floors.

“Visitors will experience a large selection of games created by AIE students, the latest in audio and video, along with the horsepower to drive it all.” said LSM’s Kevin Krantz.

AIE-Lafayette’s Interactive Experience Day was held at LSM on February 21st  for ArtWalk. These stations are a great opportunity to get hands-on with the 3D animation and game development software taught at AIE and used in the games and film industry.

“AIE staff and students will be on-hand from 4:00pm until 8:00 pm to answer any questions about full-time courses, the enrollment process, and scholarships.” said Tony Depa, AIE Lafayette’s Admissions Advisor. “On show will be student’s 3D animation and game programming as well as presentations on the career pathways into the industry” said Mr Depa.

AIE is a non-profit educator established in 1996. AIE trains students for employment and career opportunities in 3D animation, game development and related fields through the provision of world class education as well as acting as a catalyst to build these industries.
